About Lev Aryeh
The Jewish community of Lancaster, Pennsylvania is one of the best kept secrets in the Torah world. Not only does the community host a Shul, but the Shul is also home to Yeshivas Me’or Dovid. Me’or Dovid is a thriving Mosad HaTorah under the leadership of Rabbi Avraham Notis, shlita. The yeshiva is comprised of several dozen bachurim, as well as a kollel of 10 yungeleit.
Baruch HaShem, as the community and yeshiva both grow, so has the need for a proper educational structure for the young children of Lancaster. Currently there are four classes of children of various age groups being taught in four separate locations. It is the hope to bring all of these classes together under one roof and establish a day school with all of the amenities a proper school building can offer, including well equipped classrooms and indoor and outdoor play areas (to create the first full time jewish day school in Lancaster history).
The school is called Lev Aryeh, after Aryeh Wolf, a beloved talmid of Yeshivas Me’or Dovid, who was suddenly taken from us this summer. Aryeh personified simchas HaChaim and was a true Eved Hashem. Hopefully, Lev Aryeh will be a fitting tribute to the memory of this precious neshama.
